Congratulations to all our honorees at this year's #LRSDCrystalAwards! Special shout-out to our Elementary Teacher of the Year - Terri Cross, Middle School Teacher of the Year - Christine Mignot-Bugeya, High School Teacher of the Year - Spencer Sutterfield. Major shoutout to our 2023 Marian G. Lacey Educator of the Year Rhonda E. Adams and 2023 Classified Employee of the Year Antonio Jordan!

Central Student Named Arkansas Governor's Quiz Bowl All Stars Tournament Champ


Freshman, Siddharth Sridharan was invited to compete in last Saturday's (April 29) Arkansas Governor's Quiz Bowl All Stars Tournament of Champions at Hendrix College against the 100 best junior high quiz bowlers in the state. Siddharth won first place overall - naming him the Jr. HS AGQBA Tournament All Stars Champion. He won a $100 gift card from Walmart.

Writeous Poets Represented LRSD Well at Maya Angelou Birthday Celebration


Six students from Central went to the Maya Angelou Birthday Celebration Luncheon and put on a great performance. The event was held at the Heifer International Pavilion. The students' performances honored Dr. Angelou.

LRSD Enters New Partnership with MEMS


On April 28, MEMS signed a partnership agreement to support the medical science magnet pathways Parkview High School! We're looking forward to introducing students to careers in emergency management.

Martin Luther King Elementary Students Participate in Ceremony Honoring Namesake



On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, students from Martin Luther King Elementary participated in the 30th Anniversary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration and Vigil at the State Capitol.

SOMA After Dark


From Facebook info:  "Over two dozen local eateries, art galleries, and shops lining Main Street and adjacent streets will keep their lights on late so that everyone from children to retirees can enjoy the creative, eclectic, and unique SoMa community. Businesses will offer special menus, discounts, and entertainment. SoMa plans to work closely with Bernice Garden to bring in food trucks, vendors, and live music."

Movies in the Pocket Park: Jurassic World Dominion

Join the Downtown Little Rock Partnership for the first Movies in the (Pocket) Park on May 12th at 8pm following 2nd Friday Art Night! They're bringing back FREE outdoor showings, but in a more intimate setting. 

They'll be showing Jurassic World Dominion, and Stone's Throw Brewing and TMW Kettlecorn will be on hand to keep the party going! Grab your family, some movie snacks, a picnic blanket and head over to the Main Street Pocket Park (711 Main St.)

Pro-Tip: Head downtown early for pre-movie activities with 2nd Friday Art Night locations!

Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition & Family Afternoon


Drop in to celebrate the 62nd Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition with a day of art and family-friendly Museum fun! Find Flurffy + Friends roaming around AMFA, explore the Windgate Art School Open House, or take a family-focused Museum tour offered at 3:00 p.m. For a special treat, be sure to get your tickets to an incredible performance of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show. Mosaic Templars Cultural Center's 14th Annual Juneteenth Celebration


For 14 years, The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center has celebrated Juneteenth right in the heart of Little Rock at Historic W. 9th Street. June 17, 2023, MTCC will host this FREE day-long event featuring activities, vendors, food, arts and entertainment for the whole family! Juneteenth in Da Rock is Arkansas largest Juneteenth celebration, boasting over 5000 attendees from across the state, with hundreds of participating vendors, performers, and sponsors. 

This celebration provides the museum an opportunity to engage the community in the rich history and culture of African Americans. Our vision is for people of all backgrounds to join in the celebration of freedom and the numerous contributions and accomplishments of African Americans. We also strive to engage other community organizations to partner with us by supporting our mission. Be sure to follow MTCC on social media, follow this event and stay tuned for more details!

39th Annual Pops on the River
