The Arkansas
Declaration of Learning program is very competitive. Educators
selected for the 2018-19 program began with a week-long intensive training led
by state and national partners during June 2018. During the training,
participants learned to use historic art and objects in their classroom and
school libraries to bring the subjects they teach to life.

Teachers Among Arkansas Educators
Attending
ESOL Institute
Arkansas educators recently attended the first
six days of the Southwest ESOL Institute. Attendance at the Southwest ESOL
Institute signifies a teacher’s commitment to best classroom practices for
helping students acquire knowledge while developing their academic English. The
Institute is a 10-day, intense training in the field of English to Speakers of
Other Languages. Six days were completed this summer, while the other four will
be completed on Saturdays throughout the 2019 - 2020 school year. The Institute
is funded by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education.
Two of our own among them: Anita Bell and
Kristyn Richards
