Metro Students Display Award-Winning Skills


students won seven 1st Place medals competition. In the words of Director Shameka Montgomery, "We appreciate the partnership with high schools across Pulaski County for trusting us to prepare students for success." Congrats to these award-winning students!


LRSD Students Among Them


Nine Little Rock Southwest High School scholars met the language proficiency requirements to earn the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy.  Also joining them with a recognition - Little Rock West.   Southwest High School was also recognized as a first-time recipient school and joins LR West as the only two schools in the Little Rock School District to have scholars qualify for this honor.  A well-deserved congratulations!  

Adopted first by California in 2011, the Seal of Biliteracy is now recognized in 49 states and Washington D.C.
and encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills our students attain, and can be evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college
admissions offices.”

Since the 2017 pilot year in Arkansas, a total of 4,365 students from 95 high schools around the state have attained this certification across twenty-four languages other than English (Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Filipino, French, German, Gujarati, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Hmong, Italian, Japanese, Korean, ^Marathi, Marshallese, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, ^Serbian, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese).


Gryphons Impress Judges at
 Statewide Art Show!

LR Southwest students also represented LRSD at the annual Arkansas Young Artist Association.  This was the first year of competition for the students.  Congrats to their 1st Place winner, Melanie Gregorio - On-Site Mixed Media.    


LRSD Hosts Inaugural STEM Showcase


Little Rock School District hosted its inaugural STEM Showcase last Thursday, April 6. Elementary students across the district who enjoy math, science, engineering, and/or technology spent the day demonstrating their award-winning projects.








Baseline Gifted & Talented Students Performed Well at the Showcase


Congratulations to Baseline Academy 3rd Grade Gifted & Talented students for winning 1st Place Overall Best in Show at the first-ever LRSD STEM competition! Students engineered and designed an all-inclusive pet playground model for the Southwest Little Rock Community!

Pinnacle View Middle School Track Team Wins District Track Championships


Join us in congratulating the Pinnacle View Middle School Track team on winning the 2023 Little Rock School District's Track Championships! 

Little Rock Central Olympiad Teams Have an Impressive Showing at State Tournament


Little Rock Central High's Science Olympiad teams competed in the State Tournament last Saturday at UALR. Central's teams dominated at state, winning over 60 individual medals, the Spirit Award, and 1st Place Overall. 

They will compete at the National Science Olympiad Tournament in Wichita, Kansas, in May. Please join us in congratulating these students! Huge shout out to Sci Oly Coaches: Tracy Brown, Abby Sinclair, Lee Conrad, Will Drew, Tommye Butcher!

LRCH Hosts Annual Tasty
 International Festival


Last Thursday, students and staff at LRCH celebrated 80 Bites, an international festival of food, culture, and talent. During each class period, participants came to the World Language hallway to sample foods from around the world & enjoy student performances.

Parkview Choirs Receive Superior Ratings at State Choral Festival


Congrats to Parkview's Advanced Treble Chorus, Lab Singers, and Madrigals, who earned all Superior ratings at the State Choral Festival!

All three groups earned a Sweepstakes Award due to earning Superior ratings in performance and sight-reading at Region CPA and State Choral Festival. Advanced Treble Chorus earned “Best in Class” distinction for scoring the highest treble large chorus classification score. We are so proud of these singers!

Tornado Clean-Up


Kick off National Volunteer Week with Impact The Rock this Saturday, April 15, 9 AM - 11 AM by volunteering in one of three neighborhoods impacted by the tornado. The City of Little Rock needs volunteers with trucks to move debris to the Reservoir drop-off site. Free lunch & t-shirt provided!

Jack & Jill GLRC Health & Career Fair


The 21st Century Community Learning Center, Jack and Jill GLRC, and Benevolent Hearts welcome the community to a free Health & Career Fair at J.A. Fair K-8 Preparatory Academy on Saturday, April 22.
