"Literacy is LIFE!"
Students from Cloverdale and Dunbar Middle Schools participated in a Literacy and Leadership Summit, hosted by former Professional Basketball All-Star, Mr. Sidney Moncrief. The session was uniquely dedicated to developing literacy and leadership skills in individuals through small and large group interactions that included reading, writing, speaking, listening, and discovery as well as rotations of activities that encourage self-regulation, teamwork, flexibility, and communication. The students were very fortunate to have such an experience.
From LRSD to UAPB to UAMS - Future Looking Bright!
Little
Rock Central alumna Kennede McLeroy-Charles is a chemistry major at University
of Pine Bluff (UAPB) and had early admission to the University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy. She maintains a 4.0 GPA while
matriculating through UAPB in 3.5 years. McLeroy-Charles attended a summer
internship at the 3rd ranked pharmacy school in the nation, the
University of Michigan College of Pharmacy.
During the second half of her summer, she completed another internship
at Mississippi Valley State University in the Department of
Bioinformatics. We are proud of this
LRCH graduate who was in the top 8% of her class in 2016. #LRSDProud!

Brady Receives the Arkansas Securities Grant
Brady Elementary is celebrating with just cause. They
were just awarded an Arkansas Securities Grant in the amount of $4,224.95 to
assist with teaching students about securities, the stock market game, and
investment concepts. Congratulations to Principal Kasi Davis and the staff of Brady
Elementary School for a job well done. #MoneyintheBag!
Marking the Spot for History
The plaques above serve as a marker near the bench site where 16-year old Elizabeth Eckford sat in 1957 on her way to Little Rock Central High School. This is an important addition to the Little Rock Central National Historic Site area. LRSD supports the cause and is listed as a community donor. Not only is the bench a notable location of civil rights history, it is a place for personal reflection and also where many visitors to our city have taken photographs. #LRSDHistory
