Life Changer of the Year Nominee
Hearty congratulations to Nicolas Williams, Mann Magnet Middle School, for his nomination as 2019-20 LifeChanger of the Year! The LifeChanger of the Year program recognizes and rewards K-12 school employees who make a positive difference in the lives of students. He is in the running for up to $5,000. National Merit Semifinalists Named and LRSD Has Impressive Showing…
Congratulations to our National Merit Semifinalists! LRSD has 16 students, one of the most in the state, earning the distinction as National Merit Semifinalists. Central High School tied with a northwest Arkansas high school, having the most at 15, while Parkview Magnet High School had one semifinalist named. The District will host a special reception to recognize the students on November 11th. Additional details will be announced. #PreparedforLife #LRSDScholars

Scholarship
Lisa Sabir, named recipient of a scholarship for National History Day’s (NHD) Legacies of World
War I webinar series. NHD announced that Sabir, a teacher at Cloverdale
Middle School, is engaged in an online course with teachers from around the
world to study the Legacies of World War I. This program is marked by live
webinars with four World War I experts, and teachers can earn graduate credit
or professional development hours for their participation.

Arkansas Teacher of the Year Stacey James McAdoo (left) was the guest speaker
for the Little Rock PTA Council meeting. She is shown here receiving an award
from Dr. FranSha Anderson, Council President. McAdoo captivated the audience
with a poetry reading and explained that poetry levels the playing field for
her students. “It changes lives of students by increasing their critical
thinking and creative skills,” McAdoo stated.
Remember, next Saturday, all LRSD schools are encouraged to participate in the District-wide Community Walk/School Events to promote school attendance.
