Dyslexia Awareness Month


This month, students and educators across the world are raising awareness about the struggles associated with dyslexia & making efforts to spotlight a range of dyslexic needs, struggles, and signs. In recognition for this awareness, please show your support by wearing red today.

Henderson Middle School's staff commemorated the annual observance marking
 Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The big Komen Race for the Cure wasn't held this year due to COVID restrictions, but the Henderson team didn't let that stop them from doing their part to keep the message at the forefront.

The purpose of the LRSD Aspiring Leadership Institute is to identify, recruit, and groom school-based leaders to assume leadership positions in the near future within the LRSD. The institute is based on the newly adopted professional standards for educational leaders.  This four-session institute will provide participants with rigorous training & activities to extend thinking and practices around the leadership standards.

Chicot was among the four LRSD Community Schools which hosted a Community Cafe this week, during  a wonderful kick-off Thursday, Oct. 22nd for LRSD's community schools! It was a great turnout with well over 300 meals distributed.

What Are Hall PLTW Students Doing???

How exciting is this experiment!!! Hall's PLTW students are learning about DNA by collecting samples of strawberries and themselves. The students will be running gel electrophoresis next week!

Taste of the Fair 2020

Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Arkansas State Fair was canceled. However, they announced that they are opening the state fairgrounds for you to be able to enjoy your favorite fair foods! Such as corndogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes, and more. Taste of the Fair will start on October 23rd – 25th from 11am to 7pm. Admission and parking will be free. The food will be packaged in to-go containers and also social distancing guidelines will be enforced.

36th Annual International Greek Food Festival

This year, the 2020 International Greek Food Festival will consist of online ordering and drive-thru pick-up ONLY. Pre-ordering will be available 2 weeks before the festival and the hours for pick-up are: Friday, October 23, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 24, 11  a.m. - 7 p.m. The pandemic may have restricted a lot of social interaction, but the continued tradition of serving food, friends and community remains.
