National School Lunch week is spotlighted during the 2nd week in October. Take the time to learn about the various lunch programs available at your child's school. Just like breakfast and dinner, a healthy, nutritious lunch is essential to your child's health and learning.

Congratulations to Stacie Gatewood, Cafeteria Manager at Terry Elementary! Ms. Gatewood manages every aspect of the meal program at Terry and was instrumental in assisting with summer feeding efforts. She also leads a great team and always does it with a positive attitude and a smile.

"Socktober" Fest at Brady Elem.
Brady Elem. is hosting a Socktober event where students and staff collect socks to donate to the homeless and those in need. They're also challenging other LRSD team members to get involved. Supporters from the Read, Lead, and Level Up project at Hall High School will discuss the fun engaging writing activities used to produce a compelling collection of prose in the anthology Our Storied, Our Voices, Our Visions. Patrick M. Oliver, founder of Say It Loud! Readers and Writers, is joined by Edith Callaway-Frazier, Sarah Dixon, Randall Horton, Beatriz Varela, and Robin White, who will also read from the anthology.

Henderson Middle Walks For The Cure
Since there will not be a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this year, Henderson Middle is honoring Breast Cancer Awareness month with a "Walk for the Cure". This will also give fellow co-workers and opportunity to enjoy socially distanced fellowship - all while wearing masks, of course! All employee's are invited, and a team photo will be taken!!
Tinkerfest is a daylong celebration of curiosity and creativity that allows guests of all ages to explore how things work through hands-on activities. In consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museum of Discovery will present four smaller events to help keep participants safe.
Tinkerfest 2020 will be presented from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 12, September 26, October 10 and October 24.

Science + You is an exhibition at the Museum of Discovery that offers a child size laboratory with hands on interactive machinery and technology to where not only children can explore how science impact health and wellness, but also encourages young guests to pursue science careers.
