The District hosted in-person graduation ceremonies for all high schools at War Memorial Stadium this year! While the ticketed ceremonies were limited to 4 family members per graduate, the public was able to view on LRSD’s YouTube Channel: lrsdlive.com. We are so proud of our graduates for overcoming a challenging year and putting in the work to cross the stage! Collectively, our graduates earned nearly $20M in scholarships!  Congratulations again and we know you all will go on to do even greater things!

OneRock Legends Hall of fame recap

The Little Rock School District Athletic Foundation normally hosts its annual OneRock Legends Hall of Fame Ceremony in January. Because of COVID-19, the ceremony for 2020 was delayed and was held on Tuesday, May 25, at the new Little Rock Southwest High School. The event, which drew an attendance of approximately 400, was held to induct the 2020 class. We had an outstanding list of Honorees for the 2020 class including Crystal Boyd, Sam Goodwin, Keith Jackson, and Joe Johnson. Please enjoy these photos from the ceremony.

Congrats 2021 Academic Signing Day Honorees

Little Rock School District is proud to join the Little Rock Public Education Foundation and sponsors in congratulating the 2021 Academic Signing Day Class.  These students represent the District's top-performing seniors, academically, at all five high schools.  A special thanks to the sponsors. Please see the special symbols underneath each student’s name, which denote their specific recognitions.  Congrats, again, ASD Class of 2021 - your LRSD family is proud of you!

Caught Doing Good

It's the first  time a parent has recommended an employee for our weekly recognition of staff who go above and beyond the call of duty.  Ms. Souraya Irani describes Ms. Sarah Smith, paraprofessional at Williams Magnet Elementary, as "beyond caring and loving"; says she sees the "good in all kids" and makes sure kids feel safe and cared for." Ms. Irani says when her family runs into former Williams students - they ask about Ms. Smith. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the students of Williams and LRSD, Ms. Smith.  Congrats on being #CaughtDoingGood

CTE Director Shameka Montgomery and Parkview Principal James Castleberry say Gladys Godley, who spearheads Parkview's Jobs for Arkansas Graduates (JAG) program, is the perfect employee to highlight for going above and beyond this week. Principal Castleberry raves that she is constantly providing opportunities for Parkview students. She recently brought a relationship with Walmart into the school which she anticipates will result in around 30 job opportunities for students. Thank you so much, Ms. Godley, for all you do!

City Taking Applications for Summer Youth Employment Program; Youth, Employers Must Apply by Friday for Job Fair Vetting Next Week

LITTLE ROCK – The City of Little Rock Department of Community Programs announced on Tuesday that the application process is open for the Summer Youth Employment Job Fair slated for Thursday, May 27.

Little Rock residents ages 16-21 need to visit the City employment page at LittleRock.gov to apply by this Friday, May 21. Applicants will be screened and interviewed at the job fair by participating employers.
