LRSD Admin Having a Little Holiday Fun

Doesn't everybody have an ugly sweater?  Special Program's Deborah Papineau (l) takes first place! CFO Kelsey Bailey not far behind, though.

Operation Warm = Warm Hearts & Spirits!

Special thanks to local firefighter union IAFF 34 and Entergy, who teamed up again to support LRSD students with a coat drive.  Firefighters participated in automatic deductions to contribute to the coat drive and Entergy pitched in with a grant to help purchased more than 800 coats for the students at Chicot.  A shout out to our legislators, city directors and the mayor for coming out to support the event.

20 Year Anniversary of 100 Black Men Organization

Dozens of LRSD students are among honorees at this year's 100 Black Men Gala.  The organization mentors young men, ages 13-17.

Washington Carolers Spread Holiday Cheer
Members of the Washington Elementary choir took their show on the road and sang carols at the outlet mall. Clad in Santa hats, they also greeted customers.#MusicintheAir!

Tis The Season of Giving...
Thanks to the LRSD administrative team, the holidays will be a lot merrier for a local family. Team members purchased clothes and toys to support a family that included five children. We appreciate all who donated to make a difference this holiday.

Learning the Importance of Public Service
Booker Arts Magnet students shared their time, talent, and treasure to benefit citizens who are homeless. Pictured in the middle is Clinton School student Alex Tingquist, surrounded by with fourth-grade participants. During a visit with the students, Tingquist shared the importance of public service. #LRSDProud

MLK Choir Brings Soothing Sounds to Children's Hospital
Members of the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary Choir performed at the Arkansas Children's Hospital.  They sang songs of encouragement and holiday cheer for the patients and families. The children of M.L.K. Elementary Choir sounded beautiful as they sang in two part harmonies.

MLK Commission Invites You!
On January 14, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 p.m., Booker families and community members are invited to explore the Civil Rights movement and Dr. King’s life/legacy in a fun, interactive, and hands-on way.  In addition, local connections to the civil rights movement will be highlighted by Rangers from the Central High National Historical Site, and representatives from local HBCUs.  Attendees will freely rotate and explore various stations and activities and learn while having fun.  This exciting event is presented at Booker Arts Magnet Elementary in partnership with The Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission.  Everyone is welcome!

Rockefeller Students Among those Surprised
for Improved Attendance

This past week, #LRSDFeettotheSeat Campaign recognized students with improved attendance during a surprise patrol - delivering $25 gift cards to the honorees.  The effort is part of the incentive program implemented by LRSD in conjunction with the Chronic Attendance Task Force who is working to identify barriers that would prevent students from attending school, and exploring solutions to support families.
