Impressive Coding Skills Land Central Student a Spot at the
 Apple 2019 Worldwide Developers Conference

Anne Li, 16-year-old at Central High School, is among 350 students who are attending the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, CA after winning a scholarship from Apple. The scholarship is the latest honor for Li, who scored a perfect 36 on the ACT last year. In 2017, she won the Congressional App Challenge with an app designed to remind parents to take their young children out of the car. After the Apple conference, she flies to Northwest Arkansas for a tech internship at Lowell-based trucking firm J.B. Hunt, the result of her team winning a high school programming competition at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in March.

Congrats to the nearly 80 LRSD employees who retired this year. These dedicated professionals are valued members of the LRSD family who will be dearly missed! The District hosted a Retirement Social to acknowledge their service on Wednesday night. A special thanks to the Arkansas Retired Teacher Association for sponsoring the event.

Little Rock Central Football Players Help Local Business Prepare for Possible Flooding

Shout out to nine Little Rock Central Football players who volunteered to help a local business prepare for possible flooding in the area. The players and three Dads were happy to help Natural State Laboratories  in North Little Rock. Awesome job helping out in our community - LRSD is proud of all of you!

Forest Heights STEM Student Makes Top 30 in 2019 ProjectCSGIRLS Competition

Anu Iyer, Forest Heights STEM Academy 8th grader, has been selected as one of the top 30 National Finalists in the 2019 ProjectCSGIRLS Competition for her project Universal Safety App.
Finalists will be invited to the 2019 ProjectCSGIRLS National Gala, held on June 8th and 9th in the Washington DC metro area, where they will announce the National Winners. Congrats to Anu and her school sponsor, Ms. Whitney Bordelon!

The Clinton Presidential Center’s latest temporary exhibit, Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea, is a family-friendly exhibit that features more than 20 giant sea life sculptures – made entirely of trash and debris collected from beaches. This exhibit poignantly illustrates the toll trash takes on our oceans and waterways.
