Happy 100 Days of School from LRSD
World Hijab Day at Little Rock Central High
The LRCH Muslim Student Association hosted its first World Hijab Day event, and it was a success! There were smiles and wholesome moments when people had the opportunity to try on a hijab and look at themselves in the mirror. Overall, the setup and turnout was spectacular. Even the tiger mascot took part in the celebration. The day was designated to create awareness about why hijabs are worn and to promote cultural understanding.
Bright Scientific Minds of the Future Display Talents at LRCH STEM Fair
Two hundred of the city's brightest scientific minds put their talent on display at Central High School's annual STEM Fair today. Many of the participating LRCH students often advance to regional, state, and national competitions, with a few, even entering the international spotlight.
Judging is rigorous as 61 members of the local scientific community reviewed the students' entries and interviewed them about their projects. Criteria include identification of a problem, forming a hypothesis, designing and constructing an experiment, collecting data, analyzing results, forming a conclusion, and defending that conclusion.

Happy Black History Month
Happy Black History Month! This year for BHM, LRSD will be spotlighting prominent African American District graduates. We kicked off this year's celebration by recognizing Little Rock Parkview's very own Mayor Frank Scott Jr., who made history on Dec. 4, 2018, when he was selected as the City’s 73rd mayor and first elected Black chief executive.
