100 Washington Students Recognized for Excelling in Lexia Reading Scores

100 Washington Elementary students who excelled in their Lexia reading scores received news books and shoes last Friday as a reward for their accomplishments. The effort was a joint literacy project between the school and non-profit Beautiful Feet Beautiful Minds (BFBM). Way to go, students! Watch full ceremony here.

LRCH Cheerleaders Place 3rd in
NCA National High School Championship


LRCH Cheerleaders competed in the National Cheerleader Association High School National Cheer Competition in Dallas, TX on January 21st and 22nd. The team competed in the Intermediate Small Varsity Cheer Performance division, one of the largest divisions in the competition with 28 teams vying for the number 1 spot. 

The LRCH Cheerleaders won 3rd place and were the Bronze National Champions. This was LR Central's first time competing at NCA. They hope to return next year. Congratulations Tigers, your LRSD family is so proud of you! The road to nationals is never easy, but all the practices and hard work paid off. 

LRCH Labyrinth Magazine Named Excellent Magazine in the 2022 NCTE REALM Contest



Please join us in congratulating Little Rock Central Labyrinth faculty editor, Shawna Shannon and student editors Skylar Nelsen and Zoe Simmons, as their hard work on LRCH's Labyrinth Magazine has lead to the group's selection to receive the rank of Excellent in the 2022 NCTE Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) program!

Miss Arkansas and Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Visited JA Fair Prep This Week



Special guests - Miss Arkansas Ebony Mitchell and Miss Outstanding Arkansas Teen Ka'Mya Tackett visited J.A. Fair K-8 Preparatory School to speak to the New Generation Girls Mentoring Program. The Miss Arkansas organization reportedly confirms that this is the first time in state history that both titles are being held by African American women.

LRSD Special Programs Director Announced Among 2023 King Kennedy Awards Honorees



Please join us in congratulating LRSD Special Programs Director Cassandra Steele for being named a 2023 King Kennedy Honoree. The Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus has honored outstanding individuals and organizations for the past 17 years. Ms. Steele will be receiving the Thomas E. Patterson Education Award for her contributions to her community and positive impact on the state.

LRSD Counseling Coordinator Appointed to the Arkansas Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council



Congratulations are due to Little Rock School District Counseling Coordinator Lequieta Grayson on her appointment to the Arkansas Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coordinating Council by former Governor Asa Hutchinson just before the end of his term. Congratulations Ms. Grayson!

LRSD Students and Staff Members Recognized on the Arkansas Senate Floor



A Little Rock School District student and staff members were recognized by Senator Linda Chesterfield on the Arkansas Senate floor on Thursday.





In recognition of outstanding public school educators and students, Senator Linda Chesterfield honored teachers and a student from LRSD on the senate floor at the capitol.  From Central: teacher Patrick Foley- State Finalist in Samsung STEM competition and student Anu Iyer - Regeneron STS Scholar – country’s oldest, most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.  Does her name sound familiar?  (also recognized as a Presidential Scholar)

Dunbar Student Recognized as Outstanding Citizen of the State of Arkansas

City of Little Rock Municipal ID Session

Get your Municipal ID with the City of Little Rock! We are bringing City Hall to Chicot. Students starting at age 14 and adults can get an ID. The cost is $10. Please review the chart for the necessary documents to receive the card.

The Little Rock Identification Card was established to bring all of Little Rock’s residents together as one community. The City of Little Rock offers a unique photo identification card to City residents age 14 and older to connect those residents to municipal services, to incorporate them into the local economy, to increase public safety, and to provide them with a sense of belonging to the City of Little Rock.
