Middle School Superstars Honored at LRSD 
CAB Meeting on June 20th

Anu Iyer (Forest Heights STEM) and Imani Carpenter (Mann Magnet Middle School) were recognized at this month's Community Advisory Board Meeting for their continued, outstanding accomplishments, as well as their commitment to being great ambassadors for LRSD.  Lucky we get to keep them a while longer - they're rising freshmen.  Look out high school!  Both aspire to become medical doctors.
Longtime Employee, Janet Rector, set to Retire

The hard-working men and women of LRSD's Facilities Services team pause to fellowship over a tasty catfish lunch and to say farewell to longtime employee, Janet Rector, who is retiring. Thank you for your tireless service to the LRSD family, Ms. Rector!

LRSD Students had a Wonderful Time at SONOCamp 2019!





Thanks to our partners at UAMS - Dr. Kevin Phelan and team, 60 LRSD students had the experience of a lifetime at #SONOCamp2019! You're quite possibly looking at the next great physicians to come out of Arkansas, and they are from LRSD!

Mann Middle School Educator Selected for Prestigious Declaration of Learning Program


Kelli Kamanga, 6-8th grade U.S. history & English language arts teacher at Mann Magnet Middle School has been selected to participate in the prestigious Arkansas Declaration of Learning program during the 2019-20 school year. The committee says of this distinction, Ms. Kamanga's "selection for this program is a positive reflection on your school and indicates the high level of teaching and learning that occurs at Mann Magnet Middle School."  Way to go, Ms. Kamanga!

Literacy Retreat at the LRSD Admin. Building 
Little Rock School District hosted a Literacy Retreat last Saturday morning on June 15th.


Congrats to LRSD's CAB Board Chair, Jeff Wood, for making Little Rock's 40 Under 40!

Education Spaces Taking Shape at New
 Little Rock Southwest High School



Members of the Southwest Business Alliance and Chamber of Little Rock got to check out the new educational digs at  LRSH!  Most of the brick work is complete at the building and classrooms are taking shape as Nabholz crews and our architect partners at Polk, Stanley, Wilcox work day-in and day-out to ensure an on-time opening for 2020.  #FollowtheGryphons

Our Own Pageant Honoree
Congrats to LRCH grad, Jamee McAdoo (right), Miss Heritage Outstanding Teen 2019, who also won scholarship prizes at last weekend's 82 Miss Arkansas Pageant as part of the teen competition.  Jamee is joined by Miss Heritage 2019, Dana Tisdale. Jamee was also named the overall 3rd Runner-up as Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen.
