It was an exciting week for the 21 Pulaski Heights Middle School students who competed at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Eleven placed in the top 10 nationally, with PHMS taking home 6 Top 10 awards and 1 National Champion title - the most awards by any school in Arkansas! Congratulations to all the students for their hard work and outstanding achievements!

This initiative aims to bridge language barriers and foster stronger connections within the community. Thank you to all those who helped make this a successful event!
UAMS teamed up with Chicot Elementary and Early Childhood Center to encourage healthy cooking and eating habits among families. Through the UAMS Center for the Study of Obesity, cooking demonstration courses were offered, providing nutritious and easy-to-make recipes. This initiative aims to address public health disparities in the community by making healthy food options more accessible. The program has received positive feedback and hopes to expand to other schools in the district.

Watson Elementary School has transformed its blacktop with colorful new learning games. These additions are designed to make playtime both educational and fun for students. What an exciting new addition to the school!
Jumpstart Your Career at the Metropolitan Career-Technical Center!
The Metropolitan Career-Technical Center offers high school students hands-on learning in high-demand fields using industry-standard tools and professional guidance. Students can earn certifications, compete in competitions, and gain real-world experience through internships. Open to 10th-12th graders in Pulaski County, Metro helps students start their future now!
Patriot Academy is a 3-day event that helps incoming and enrolled Parkview students, both new 9th grade and transfer students, acclimate to the culture as well as get to know each other. Students will attend break-out sessions where they learn graduation requirements, how to calculate credits, tips for the transition of high school, the Parkview Alma Mater, details of the Magnet Areas, opportunities offered on our campus, and more! Patriot Academy is designed to address pertinent student information and is the first introduction to "The Patriot Way" as well as the first instillation of Patriot Pride!

A revised 2024-25 student calendar was approved during a recent Board of Education meeting, and it is pending final approval by the State Board of Education. Additionally, the LRSD Board has passed a resolution regarding compensation for employees affected by school closures due to inclement weather in the 2023-24 school year. Employees can find more details in the Superintendent's Memo or by contacting their supervisors or the LRSD Human Resources Department. The Little Rock School District continues phase two of its strategic partnership with Caissa, a leading educational organization focused on student recruitment and retention. Community members may recall LRSD’s pilot project with Caissa, which included phone calls, texts, and surveys, seeking feedback to better meet the needs of families. Caissa implements a diverse range of tools to showcase the assets of the districts with which they work to get students back in classrooms and to keep them there. Junior Ranger Days at Little Rock Central High School will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act on July 13th. This free event invites Junior Rangers and their families to delve into the historical significance of the Civil Rights Act through engaging activities and lessons. Starting at 11 a.m., Park Rangers will lead a special session exploring the Act's impact, followed by free crafts and activities.
