Several LRSD schools have been recognized by the Office of Education Policy at the University of Arkansas for their outstanding growth on the ACT Aspire. Don Roberts Elementary, Wakefield Elementary, Little Rock Hall STEAM Magnet High, and Jefferson Elementary have all received awards for their exceptional achievements in academic growth and overcoming challenges. Congratulations to our Superintendent, Dr. Jermall Wright, for being recognized in the Arkansas Money and Politics Top Ten. Dr. Wright's dedication to education and his impactful leadership have significantly enhanced our district. Arianna Williams, Little Rock West, and Emery Moore, Little Rock Central, achieved top honors in the 2024 Clinton Foundation Ideas Matter Scholarship Essay Contest. Arianna secured first place, earning a $5,000 scholarship, while Emery won third place with a $1,000 prize. The contest invites Arkansas junior and senior high school students to propose innovative solutions to critical issues, with this year's theme centered on civic participation. Congratulations!
Little Rock Central High School is among 11 U.S. Civil Rights Movement Sites proposed for the prestigious World Heritage List. This nomination highlights Central High's historic significance and commitment to educational excellence. We are proud to celebrate the school's legacy and impact on our community and nation.
Little Rock Central High School honored the boys and girls basketball teams this week for winning the 6A State Basketball Tournament. The gym was filled with excitement as the players received their championship rings. The ceremony celebrated the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes and coaches. Congratulations to our Tigers on their outstanding achievements!
This week, new and transfer students attending Parkview next year attended Patriot Academy, a fantastic event that introduces the "The Patriot Way" and instills a sense of Patriot Pride for everyone who attended. Students went to sessions to learn about graduation requirements, credit calculations, and high school transition tips. They also learned Parkview's Alma Mater and about campus opportunities. This week wrapped up today with students enjoying hot dogs, bounce houses, and other fun activities.
Teachers participated in AVID training at Little Rock Southwest High School this summer. This training is designed to enhance the learning process and strengthen the connection between teachers and students. We're excited to see the positive impact this will have in our classrooms.
Reading Tip #3: Show off Your Reading Skills to Relatives
The summer is a great time to get together with distant relatives, and it's always exciting when they come around to visit! Encourage your child to show off their newfound reading skills by reading to a relative or retelling a story from memory!

LRSD/UA-Little Rock Connection Also Means Continuing Ed Opportunities for Employees
The Little Rock School District continues phase two of its strategic partnership with Caissa, a leading educational organization focused on student recruitment and retention. Community members may recall LRSD’s pilot project with Caissa, which included phone calls, texts, and surveys, seeking feedback to better meet the needs of families. Caissa implements a diverse range of tools to showcase the assets of the districts with which they work to get students back in classrooms and to keep them there. If you get emails or calls/texts from 501-503-3168, 501-512-1656, or 501-260-7244, they are legitimate communications from LRSD.
