Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Held for 
Rockefeller Early Childhood Center

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Rockefeller Early Childhood Center was a huge success! The event marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for LRSD's early childhood program. This center will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of our young students. Thank you to everyone who attended!

LRSD Honors Exceptional Educators at Merit Incentive Recognition Ceremony

LRSD proudly hosted a Merit Incentive Recognition Ceremony to celebrate the educators who recently received merit pay from the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. During the event, LRSD administration recognized the outstanding achievements of these teachers, revealing a total of $825,434.50 awarded. This ceremony underscores the dedication and hard work of our educators, who continually enhance their students' education experiences. Congratulations!

Central High Alum Paityn White Honored for Graduation and Naval Aviator Aspirations

Little Rock Central High alum Paityn White, future U.S. Navy pilot, was recognized by the LRSD Board for her upcoming graduation from Clark Atlanta University. Paityn earned her private pilot's license at just 17-years-old and boasts an impressive array of accomplishments. She has shown dedication, perseverance, and excellence both in the skies and in the classroom. After earning her B.S. in Physics and Mathematics, Paityn will be commissioned into the United States Navy, reporting to Pensacola, Florida, as a Naval Aviator. 

LRSD Wins the 2024 CENTEGIX Response Accelerator Award

Congratulations to LRSD's Ron Self and his team for winning the CENTEGIX 2024 Response Accelerator Award! This award celebrates their remarkable efforts in enhancing campus safety and improving emergency response times. The award ceremony will be held at the Campus Safety Conference in Atlanta. We want to thank them for their hard work and dedication to our community and student's safety. 

LR Southwest High Students Conduct Successful Drone Survey for the 
Little Rock Port Authority

Students from Little Rock Southwest High School excelled in conducting a drone site survey for the Little Rock Port Authority! The LRPA will use the footage to attract manufacturers to Little Rock, bringing new jobs to Central Arkansas. Special thanks to those who made this hands-on learning opportunity possible.

Speaking of Southwest... Upward Bound Students Gain Financial Insights 
During Bank Presentation

This week, Upward Bound students visited Little Rock Southwest's campus to learn about banking and budgeting from First Security Bank. They discussed checking and savings accounts, gaining valuable financial insights. The experience was both educational and enjoyable for all involved!

Parkview Academy to Help Incoming Students

Patriot Academy is a 3-day event that helps incoming and enrolled Parkview students, both new 9th grade and transfer students, acclimate to the culture as well as get to know each other. Students will attend break-out sessions where they learn graduation requirements, how to calculate credits, tips for the transition of high school, the Parkview Alma Mater, details of the Magnet Areas, opportunities offered on our campus, and more! Patriot Academy is designed to address pertinent student information and is the first introduction to "The Patriot Way" as well as the first instillation of Patriot Pride!

LRSD Announces Revised 2024-25 Calendar/ Employee Workday Resolution

A revised 2024-25 student calendar was approved during a recent Board of Education meeting, and it is pending final approval by the State Board of Education. Additionally, the LRSD Board has passed a resolution regarding compensation for employees affected by school closures due to inclement weather in the 2023-24 school year. Employees can find more details in the Superintendent's Memo or by contacting their supervisors or the LRSD Human Resources Department. Your support and patience are greatly appreciated as we navigate these critical processes together.

Unlocking Potential: Little Rock School District Offers More Opportunities for Kids

LRSD and Caissa Continue Second Phase L.R.S.D Recruitment/Retention Partnership

The Little Rock School District continues phase two of its strategic partnership with Caissa, a leading educational organization focused on student recruitment and retention. Community members may recall LRSD’s pilot project with Caissa, which included phone calls, texts, and surveys, seeking feedback to better meet the needs of families. Caissa implements a diverse range of tools to showcase the assets of the districts with which they work to get students back in classrooms and to keep them there. If you get emails or calls/texts from 501-503-3168, 501-512-1656, or 501-260-7244, they are legitimate communications from LRSD.

Celebrate Art and Community at SoMa's Ground Mural Block Party

This weekend, celebrate the installation of two vibrant ground plane murals with a festival block party in the SoMa district! Artist Kait Culbertson will be creating the "SoMa Superbloom" at the intersection of 13th and Main Street, while a Pride crosswalk will be installed at 12th and Main Street. The fun kicks off with volunteer painting shifts and live music starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday and continuing through Sunday.

Enjoy family fun, delicious food, kids activities, and live music from the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Don't miss the state's largest fireworks display over the Main Street Bridge. Remember to bring your chairs and blankets!
