LRSD Coaches Honored with
 All 
Arkansas Preps Awards

Congratulations to Little Rock Parkview's Coach Brad Bolding and Little Rock Central's Coach Marlon Williams for their outstanding achievements! Coach Bolding has been named the All Arkansas Preps Football Coach of the Year, and Coach Williams has earned the title All Arkansas Preps Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. We are incredibly proud of both coaches for their hard work and positive impact on our students and teams. 

LRSD Well-Represented Among Inductees for
2024 Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame


Congrats to the 2024 Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame Inductees, including the LRSD honorees: Tom Cox (Hall Alum), David Higginbotham (Forest Park Music Teacher), Dr. IJ Routen (LRSD Fine Arts Coordinator), and Betty Ward (Central Alum).

National League of Cities Visits Central High During Centennial Road Show

This week, a large National League of Cities delegation visited Little Rock Central High as part of their Centennial Road Show. The event was attended by LR Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. and other city officials. Principal Nancy Rousseau shared the school's rich history and successes with the group - a proud moment for the school and the entire Little Rock School District. 

Metro Scholars Team Up with
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to
 Build Outdoor Library

Little Rock School District's Metro Career Technical Center scholars partnered with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to build and donate an outdoor library in Morrilton. This project aims to enhance literacy by providing free books to individuals of all ages. Three scholars, Dontavious Johnson, Matthew Bradford, and Leovardo Huerta, recently won gold at the SkillsUSA State Competition and will compete at the national level in Atlanta. Your LRSD family is rooting for you!

Parkview's Ramsey Cummings Named to
 2024 NFF Team of Distinction

Ramsey Cummings, a member of Parkview's class of 2024, has been named to the 2024 National Football Foundation (NFF) Team of Distinction. Selected from a pool of 3,500 scholar-athletes nationwide, Ramsey's outstanding achievements include a 3.80 GPA, serving as team captain and an all-state player, and being a member of the National Honor Society. Additionally, he was honored with the President's Education Award. Congratulations to Ramsey for this exceptional recognition.

AAIM Technology Leader of the Year

LRSD's own Dr. Travis Taylor was honored as the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media Technology Leader of the Year at the 2024 Awards Luncheon. This recognition celebrates his outstanding contributions to instructional media and technology in education. Congratulations to Dr. Taylor for his remarkable achievement and dedication to advancing educational technology at LRSD!

Thirteen Terry Elementary Beta Club members attended Nationals in Savannah, GA, proudly representing the Little Rock School District. They experienced many firsts and created unforgettable memories. A heartfelt thank you to all the donors who made this trip possible.

LRSD Announces Revised 2024-25 Calendar/ Employee Workday Resolution

A revised 2024-25 student calendar was approved during a recent Board of Education meeting, and it is pending final approval by the State Board of Education. Additionally, the LRSD Board has passed a resolution regarding compensation for employees affected by school closures due to inclement weather in the 2023-24 school year. Employees can find more details in the Superintendent's Memo or by contacting their supervisors or the LRSD Human Resources Department. Your support and patience are greatly appreciated as we navigate these critical processes together.

Unlocking Potential: Little Rock School District Offers More Opportunities for Kids

LRSD and Caissa Continue Second Phase oL.R.S.D.ecruitment/Retention Partnership

The Little Rock School District continues phase two of its strategic partnership with Caissa, a leading educational organization focused on student recruitment and retention. Community members may recall LRSD’s pilot project with Caissa, which included phone calls, texts, and surveys, seeking feedback to better meet the needs of families. Caissa implements a diverse range of tools to showcase the assets of the districts with which they work to get students back in classrooms and to keep them there. If you get emails or calls/texts from 501-503-3168, 501-512-1656, or 501-260-7244, they are legitimate communications from LRSD.

City of Little Rock to Dedicate New 
Mural in Downtown

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will join artist Jason Jones on Monday, June 24th, at the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center in the River Market to dedicate Little Rock's newest mural at 11 a.m. Nature Center staff will use the murals with school groups and other visitors for education. The design was a collaborative effort involving several Arkansas Game and Fish Commission divisions to ensure all plant and wildlife renderings were correctly depicted and native to Arkansas.

Celebrate Independence Day at the 40th Annual Pops on the River on July 4, 2024, from 5-10 p.m. in downtown Little Rock! Enjoy family fun, delicious food, kids activities, and live music from the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Don't miss the state's largest fireworks display over the Main Street Bridge. Remember to bring your chairs and blankets!
