Quantas Floyd has taken the reigns as principal of Little Rock Southwest High.  Mr. Floyd succeeds Mr. Xavier Hodo, who resigned this year.  Let's give Mr. Floyd a warm welcome as he prepares to lead the Gryhpons into an exciting new year!

Little Rock Central High to Receive
Significant Upgrades



The historic Little Rock Central High School is on the verge of receiving much-needed upgrades. Highlights of the campus' additions include a new science wing and fieldhouse. We are excited to again work with Polk Stanley Wilcox, the Little Rock architecture firm leading the project. Special shout-out to LRCH alum Sarah Bennings, who is spearheading the project for PSW.  Here's a question for you.  When was the last time Central had a new building added to the campus?

As we continue partnering to #ReimagineLRSD, get ready for an exciting, out-of-the-box, back-to-school Convocation on August 7th, LR Southwest High School auditorium. Employees should check their emails for information about tickets to attend the event in person.  Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis - while they last.  We look forward to seeing you!

Important Reminder - Updated Bell Schedule


As we prepare for back-to-school season, we wanted to remind you of the updated bell schedule. Starting this upcoming school year, the new bell schedule is as follows:

Elementary     7:40am – 2:55pm
K-8 Schools    7:40am - 3:05pm
Secondary       8:45am – 4:00pm

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to create a productive and positive learning environment for all students. Thank you for your continued support.

Meal Applications Available Online


Please go online and complete a family/household application for the school year 2023-24. The process will take less than 10 minutes. There are NO paper applications. However, if you need assistance with the application or the process, please contact LRSD Child Nutrition at 501-447-2458 or 501-447-2456.

LRSD Launched Exciting New Virtual Academy Opportunity for Students


The Little Rock School District is thrilled to announce the launch of its new virtual educational option for students – Little Rock Virtual Academy (LRSDVA), providing students with a dynamic and innovative online learning experience. 

LRSD is committed to meeting the diverse needs of its students and offering exceptional educational opportunities. With the introduction of LRSDVA, the District aims to provide a flexible learning environment that caters to the unique circumstances and preferences of students and families. Friends of CALS Used Book Sale

The Friends of CALS Used Book Sale is set for July 13-15 in the basement of the Main Library located at 100 Rock Street in downtown Little Rock. This sale offers educators a 25% discount on $1 books (both paperbacks and hardbacks). The sale takes place during these hours: Thursday, July 13 at 5-7pm (Friends members only, memberships sold at the door and online at www.cals.org); Friday, July 14 at 10am-6pm; and Saturday, July 15 at 10am-4pm. Please pass this information along to the teachers and staff in your district.
