As the first day of school approaches, LRSD is gearing up for our annual "Dads Take Your Child to School" social media contest. From August 12-16, we invite dads and father figures to capture a picture with their LRSD student(s) on the first day while on the school's campus and share it with us. This is a fantastic way to celebrate and document the start of the new school year. Get your cameras ready, and let's create some unforgettable memories together!

LRSD Kicks Off the School Year with
Virtual Convocation
& Award-Winning Keynote Speaker

The LRSD community gathered virtually this week for convocation, Reimagining LRSD Through a Culture of Learning and Love. Teachers connected from their schools to watch the event, which featured inspiring throwback performances by school bands and a keynote speech by Dr. Luvelle Brown. The convocation set a positive tone for the upcoming school year, as everyone looks forward to reimagining LRSD together.

Several LRSD employees saw Dr. Jermall Wright’s “One Team One Dream” shirt during Monday’s convocation and inquired about getting one.  Here’s the link if you are interested. The deadline for ordering is August 30th.



LRSD Educators Gear Up for New School Year
 with Engaging Professional Development Sessions

Teachers across the district returned this week to prepare for the upcoming school year. Educators and administrators participated in a variety of Professional Development sessions, including workshops on AI-driven instructional practices and sessions with student services. A special session for over 20 Black male educators continued the momentum from May's Black Male Educator Summit. These initiatives aim to equip staff with the tools and strategies needed to support student success. 

Community Gathers for a Night of Connection and Excitement at LRSD Open House Events

LRSD schools welcomed families and students for a series of Open House events across the district. The evening provided a great opportunity for parents to meet teachers and staff while students explored their classrooms. The positive energy set the tone for an exciting school year ahead. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event!

Magnet Academy Back-to-School Bash
Brings Fun to Community

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership and Language Magnet Academy held a fun Back-to-School Bash. Families enjoyed a day of activities, including a bounce house, snacks, and free clothing and school supplies. The event brought the community together and ensured students were well-prepared for the new school year. Special thanks to everyone who helped make this day a success!

The Little Rock School District offers a robust Advanced Placement (AP) program, allowing students to take college-level courses in high school. With 38 courses across 20 subjects, students can earn college credit by scoring 3 or higher on the national AP exams. AP classes not only provide academic challenges but also enhance college applications.

LRSD Supports Gifted & Talented Students in Grades 6-12
