Breaking Barriers: LRSD's Inaugural Black Male Educator Summit Inspires and Empowers

Last weekend, LRSD hosted its inaugural Black Male Educator Summit, bringing together educators for a day of inspiration and growth. The event featured cutting-edge conversations, strategy sessions, and impactful panel discussions. Highlights included sessions on school leadership, mentoring, and engaging youth through hip-hop culture. The summit was a resounding success, empowering educators to make a difference in their communities.

LRSD's 2024 Academic Signing Day Celebrates Excellence Among Students

In partnership with the Public Education Foundation, the Little Rock School District proudly hosted the 2024 Academic Signing Day this week, honoring our top-achieving students for their remarkable academic accomplishments. These distinguished scholars have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their studies. Congratulations to each student recognized for their hard work and perseverance. Jefferson Elementary Unites to Honor Malin Opitz with Pavilion Unveiling

Jefferson Elementary unveiled the new Malin Reed Opitz Pavilion this week to honor the beloved student's memory. Malin, who was a student at Jefferson, died from a brain tumor in January 2023. The pavilion will be a space for physical education, shaded recess, and unique learning experiences. Donations are still being accepted to support this lasting tribute to Malin's legacy.

Thank You to Mrs. Judy Milam for 52 Years of Dedication and Impact at LRSD

Congratulations to Mrs. Judy Milam, retiring from Fair Park Early Childhood Center after 52 years of Little Rock School District service. As the coordinator of the District's first stand-alone Pre-K program, Mrs. Milam blazed a trail in early childhood education, setting countless young students on the path to success. She will be dearly missed by all who had the the privilege of knowing her!

Central Senior Maria Schuller Recognized by All Arkansas Preps!

Way to go, LRCH's Maria Schuller, chosen as a member of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s All Arkansas Preps Soccer Second Team! A senior, Schuller is to be congratulated for a great season! Schuller will be recognized on June 15th at a special dinner featuring keynote speakers and NCAA Championship teammates Scotty Thurman, Alex Dillard, Clint McDaniel, and Dwight Stewart.

Roberts Elementary Student Wins Big in Doodle for Google Contest

Peter Xiong, a Don R. Roberts Elementary student, has been named Arkansas's winner in the 2024 Doodle for Google contest. His artwork, "My Martian Sunrise," envisions a future where humans and robots live together on Mars. Selected from tens of thousands of entries, Peter’s Doodle moves on to the national contest. LRSD Announces Revised 2024-25 CalendaL.R.S.D.d Employee Workday Resolution

A revised 2024-25 student calendar was approved during a recent Board of Education meeting, and it is pending final approval by the State Board of Education. Additionally, the LRSD Board has passed a resolution regarding compensation for employees affected by school closures due to inclement weather in the 2023-24 school year. Employees can find more details in the Superintendent's Memo or by contacting their supervisors or the LRSD Human Resources Department. Your support and patience are greatly appreciated as we navigate these critical processes together.

Unlocking Potential: Little Rock School District Offers More Opportunities for Kids

LRSD and Caissa Continue Second Phase oL.R.S.D.ecruitment/Retention Partnership

The Little Rock School District continues phase two of its strategic partnership with Caissa, a leading educational organization focused on student recruitment and retention. Community members may recall LRSD’s pilot project with Caissa, which included phone calls, texts, and surveys, seeking feedback to better meet the needs of families. Caissa implements a diverse range of tools to showcase the assets of the districts with which they work to get students back in classrooms and to keep them there. If you get emails or calls/texts from 501-503-3168, 501-512-1656, or 501-260-7244, they are legitimate communications from LRSD.

Ride to Fight Cancer: Join Tour de Rock 2024 Benefiting CARTI

Now in its 21st year, Tour de Rock, benefitting CARTI, will occur on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Cyclists ride 25, 50, 62, and 100-mile routes through Central Arkansas. The ride features plenty of rest stops and an after-party with great food and music. Tour de Rock helps CARTI deliver advanced cancer care and offers a chance to honor those impacted by cancer. Arkansas Cinema Society To Give Sneak Preview of 'Young Woman and the Sea'

The Arkansas Cinema Society (ACS) is bringing a free sneak preview of Disney’s Young Woman and the Sea forA.C.S.e ongoing Sneak Series and the new Arkansas Classics Film Series to the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in the coming weeks. Little Rock Farmer's Market Now Open
for its 50th Season

The Little Rock Farmers Market has opened its doors for its 50th season, welcoming visitors to the River Market with its farm-fresh produce, locally crafted foods, and handmade arts and crafts. Since 1996, the market has invited SNAP beneficiaries, offering purchasable tokens on-site and participating in the Double Up Food Bucks program. Free parking, including spaces for seniors and handicapped individuals, ensures convenient access for all patrons.

Celebrate Love, Unity, and Diversity at the SoMa Pride Parade

On June 1, SoMa Pride will bring together Little Rock's vibrant SoMa district and the colorful celebration of LGBTQ+ pride!
