Happy Earth Day
Happy Earth Day! Earth Day was conceived in the 1960s by Senator Gaylord Nelson who wanted to bring environmental issues to the forefront of the political arena. Thanks to his efforts , the government responded to Earth Day with environmental legislation. Today, we continue the tradition of celebrating Earth Day by demonstrating support for protecting the environment. Here are a few simple ways you can go greener at home:
- Switch your lightbulbs to energy efficient types.
- Turn off lights when you leave the room.
- Open your curtains and use natural light.
- Get reusable grocery bags.
- Purchase reusable water bottles.
- Combine as many errands as you can in one trip.
- Walk or ride a bike for errands two miles or closer.
- Go paperless, and receive bills, statements, and letters online.
- Unplug unused chargers and appliances.
- Use cloth instead of paper to clean.
