Community Theater Summer Arts Program

ACTing Up Summer 2022
June 13 - July 1
For rising 3rd-12th grade campers
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON MONDAY, JANUARY 17TH!

This summer, ACTing Up is back, and bigger than ever! For the first time, the camp will be expanded from two weeks to THREE WEEKS, and will culminate in a fully camper-produced show – DISNEY’S MOANA JR!

Week one of camp will be formatted much like past years – campers will rotate through daily classes in each of five performing arts areas of focus:
Musical Theater Dance: Instructed by Christen Pitts
Vocal Music: Instructed by Karen Q. Clark
Stage Acting: Instructed by Shelton Harden
Film Acting: Instructed by Warren McCullough
Stagecraft and Technical Theater (New for 2022!): Instructor TBD

Weeks Two & Three of camp will shift into rehearsal and production mode, with campers focused on their preferred “track” as they work together to produce Disney’s Moana Jr. for their family and friends! Students will rank their top choices for areas of focus from the following tracks:

PERFORMANCE: Choose this option if your child would most like to sing, dance and act as part of the production of Disney’s Moana Jr. Campers in this track will be cast in lead and ensemble roles in the final production, which will be presented at the end of camp.

STAGECRAFT & TECHNICAL THEATER: Choose this option if your child would like a hands-on intensive in making theatre magic! Campers in this “track” will build and paint sets, design and make costumes, learn about lights and sound, and create the world of Moana for the final production.

FILM ACTING AND PRODUCTION: If your child is most interested in what happens in front of -and- behind the camera to make movie magic, this is the track for them! Campers in this track will shoot, edit and host a behind-the-scenes look at “The Making of Moana”, which will be shared during the final performances of the show as well.

Camper drop-off is from 8:00am-8:30am daily.
Classes will be held from 8:30am-2:20pm.
Camper pickup is from 2:25pm-2:50pm daily.
Lunch and a snack will be served each day.
Each camper will receive an ACTing up 2022 t-shirt and other materials throughout camp.

MOANA JR Performances will be held June 29th – July 1st. Please note that the show will be double cast based on age – each camper will perform the show TWICE depending on which cast they are a part of. The daily schedule will change a bit on the final three days when performances are taking place, and those schedule changes will be announced at a later date.

Dates/Times:
June 29th, 2:30pm Matinee – Younger Cast
June 29th, 6:30pm Evening Show – Older Cast
June 30th, 6:30pm Evening Show – Younger Cast
July 1st, 6:30pm Evening Show – Older Cast
