Commemorative Ceremony Marking One-Year Community Effort in Battle Against COVID-19
 LRSD joined the City of Little Rock and community partners to observe the one-year partnership to support students and families following the closing of schools as a result of COVID-19.  We honor all who lost their lives during the pandemic and  express gratitude for the way our community and the city of Little Rock pulled together to battle the pandemic. Hundreds of thousands of meals were served to students in the Pulaski Count region thanks to the City, the Clinton Center, LRSD, CALS, Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, Rock Region Metro and World Central Kitchen.

 Congrats LRSD Dell Scholar!

Congratulations to Jose Santillan, 2021 Dell Scholar! Jose receives a $20,000 academic scholarship, $500 annually for college books and a Dell laptop computer! Jose will be attending Arkansas Tech University majoring in Fish and Wildlife!

LRCH Wrestling Teams Perform Well at State Tournament! 

LRCH wrestling teams had a great showing at the state tournament! The Lady Tigers finished 7th out of 33 teams with 4 state placers (Kyndall Bankston, Lillian Hutchinson, Zaria Raglin, and Jayla Spring). The gentlemen finished 4th out of 16 with 8 state placers (Vincent Bryan, Isaac Coates, Deterrance Ewing, Cameron Lewis, Brenden Lovelace, Bradley McDaniel, and Asadil Tariq, Gary Walker), Coach Butler's highest ever.

Watershed Delivers Water to LRSD Schools
Special “SO’ to our partners at the Watershed who donated bottled water to three LRSD Schools. This stop was Dunbar Middle! Washington Elementary and Mann Magnet Middle schools were also beneficiaries.

 Parkview Patriots Advance to Next Round of State Tournament! 

Parkview Patriots advanced to the next round in their division in the state tournaments! Congratulations to our Patriots for all of their hard work and dedication. They defeated the Lake Hamilton Timberwolves with a winning score of 75 points to 65 points! Your LRSD family is so proud of you! 

 LRCH Tigers and Lady Tigers Win First Game in State Tournament! 
Calling all Tigers basketball fans! Our Tigers and Lady Tigers made it to their respective 2021 Basketball State Tournaments and won their first rounds! We are so proud of our Tigers and all of their hard work and effort. Congratulations are in order for sophomore guard Bryson Warren on 1000 career points!  Be sure to continue to support our Tigers by keeping up with their progress on their instagrams @lrcentralhoops and @lrcentralwbb

Recap of Week 1 Lexia Olympics!

LRSD is committed to helping ALL kids READ LIKE CHAMPIONS by utilizing Lexia Reading.  The program is currently being used in all elementary schools; Henderson, Mabelvale, Forest Heights, and Cloverdale middle schools; and Hall and Southwest high schools. The Lexia Winter Games are in full swing!  Congratulations to the Week 1 Winners.

Teacher Awards: Mabelvale Middle, Dodd, King, Otter Creek and Western Hills Elementary school teachers received a Coke Bar for 100% teacher logins for week 1.

Gov. Hutchinson, ADE Announce Results
of Fifth Annual All-Region Coding Competition 

 LRSD students were among 17 teams advancing to the Fifth Annual All-State Coding Competition on May 1, 2021. Please help us congratulate Andrew Baker, Aaron Tran, and Jacob Collier-Tenison from Central. 

The diigital All-Region Coding Competition was a digital event was held Feb. 26, 2021. More than 100 teams participated in the event and were scored by the ADE Office of Computer Science team using a common rubric and process. That process determined the top 16 teams to invite to the state-level event. The school that produced the first-place team at the state competition in 2020, the Don Tyson School of Innovation in Springdale, received an automatic invitation to send a team to the state competition.

Each member of the first-place team at the state competition will receive a $2,000 award that will be deposited into a 529 College Savings Plan. Each member of the second-place team will receive a $1,000 award deposited into a 529 College Savings Plan, with each member of the third-place team receiving a $500 award deposited into a 529 College Savings Plan. In addition, the schools that register/sponsor the teams placing first, second, and third will receive $10,000, $6,000, and $4,000, respectively, to support their computer science programs. The prizes and competition expenses are provided by a grant from Verizon to ARCodeKids.

Thank you so much for all that you have done to support the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red initiative.  Thanks to your efforts, we raised $2,640, and 91 employees marked that they have recently had their blood pressure checked! —wow!! Below is the Go Red giveaway winner.  Meantime, per our AHA rep, all  shirts will be ordered this afternoon and they should arrive to the rep by early/mid-week next week. She will start delivering once they arrive and are sorted. Our district’s Wear Red Day is on Wednesday, April 7th! Don’t forget to wear your Go Red shirts or wear RED to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke!
