Congrats 2021 National Merit Finalists!
Go LRCH Tigers!!!

When you see the above-named students, be sure to congratulate them!  Their hard work has paid off - they learned last week that they had been named National Merit Finalists.  Why is this such a big deal?  All 12 LRCH semifinalists were on an impressive list of 16,000 that was whittled down.  The selection of 7,500 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of more than 15,000 Finalists is now in progress.  These students will learn  next month if they will receive one of the scholarship awards.  We are so proud of  LRCH/LRSD's incredible students!

Poore Man on the Roof Comes to a Successful Close

Poore Man on the Roof stakeholders pose for a picture at the press conference held earlier this week. It's safe to say #2021PMOTR was a success. The community pulled together during these unforeseen times to give back to those who need it most. Thank you to everyone who donated time, nonperishable food items, personal hygiene items, and money to this cause. Witnessing the LRSD community come together in the face of a global pandemic reminds us of what we can do when we rely on the #LRSDPowerofUS

Why Do You #LOVETEACHING?

#LoveTeaching is a campaign launched by teachers in 2015 to celebrate teaching and those they inspire worldwide. Every year for Valentine's Day, the campaign sparks dialogue that illuminates why teachers enter and remain in the profession. It also creates the opportunity to discuss solutions for challenges of the profession. Read the flyer to learn about specific opportunities to participate. Special thanks and SO to our own  Stacey McAdoo who is helping to spearhead this great celebration!

LRSD Focuses on Social-Emotional Learning

LRSD has made social emotional learning a focal point for our students through a series of videos about understanding emotions, personal goals, and values. With everything going on as it relates to the pandemic, learning about productively managing emotions is such a valuable skill for our students to learn. In the coming weeks videos will be focused on on Self-Management which displays skills such as emotional regulation, stress management, and overcoming challenges. If you would like to learn a little more about Self-Management, please watch the video below.

How Can You Help the Emergency Blood Shortage

Request

Arkansas Blood Institute has a need for blood donors today. Your support has been essential as we’ve weathered the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, we ask you to rise up with us to help ensure a healthy blood supply, by posting messages of support on social media.

Quick facts and sample social media posts are included below.

Blood Donation Quick Facts

  • Ongoing pandemic concerns continue to impact the blood supply. Arkansas Blood Institute provides every drop of blood for 40 hospitals and medical facilities across the state. Hospital usage has increased, so donors are needed now.

  • Over the course of nearly a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, blood collection efforts have faced tremendous challenges due to closures, cancellations, and changes in donors’ routines.

  • Arkansas Blood Institute urges all eligible donors of all blood types to “Rise Up and Give” blood now. We need businesses, faith-based organizations, school groups and more to host blood drives.
  • Blood is a perishable product that lasts just 42 days on the shelf. The blood supply requires constant replenishment.
  • Donors can give blood every 56 days and are encouraged to make regular donation appointments. Platelets can be donated as often as every 7 days, up to 24 times a year. Convalescent plasma donors are also critically needed. Individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 and are at least 14 days symptom-free may be eligible to donate convalescent plasma.
  • All donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies to identify potential convalescent plasma donors.
