Way to go, LRSD Supt. Mike Poore - who, for the second year in-a-row, was named to the distinguished list of 250 Arkansas's who are mpacting the community! Proud of you, Supt. Poore!
The monthly LRSD Student/Staff Recognition Ceremony, AKA Supt. This photo was taken during the crisis prevention training where educators received nonviolent crisis intervention training designed to teach best practices for managing difficult situations and disruptive behaviors.
Dunbar Book Fair a Hit!
Dunbar’s Scholastic Book Fair was a HUGE SUCCESS! They had a total of 233 sales during their two-week book fair., selling $3,165.11 worth of books and Scholastic merchandise and earning $1,640.90 worth of new books to add to the school's library collection. Dunbar wishes to thank all the students, parents, and teachers who bought books. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Dunkin', Dipping, Delicious!
A conversation about fair foods turned into a fun fall
activity for some students at Dunbar Middle School. While many of the students
said they had eaten a caramel apple before, nearly all of them had never made
one for themselves. That's exactly what they had the opportunity to do.. They learned about following recipes and how sometimes you have to
improvise because the recipes don't always work out as expected due to things
beyond your control.
Instrument Petting Zoo at Carver
What's happening in the wonderful world of elementary fine arts? - The ASO instrument petting zoo comes to Carver. ASO will be providing violin lessons for 4th grade students at Carver, Western Hills and Gibbs for a 5 to 6-week period.
Roberts Readers Show their Character!
As an end to Red Ribbon Week, a Book Character Parade was held at Don Roberts Elementary. Students and teachers came dressed as their favorite character. The theme for this event was “Keep Your Character – Don’t Do Drugs!”
Music to Their Ears
Arkansas String Quartet performed musical selections:
"Exploring Beethoven", "Meet the String Family", “Listen
Up!” to the Booker T. Washington Elementary K-5 students. There were four
performances throughout the day which kept the youth spellbound!

Booker T. Washington breast cancer survivors paraded
through the hallways, supported by staff and cheerleaders. This was in support of the National Breast Cancer
Awareness Month in October, an annual campaign to increase the awareness of
this disease. #EarlyAwareness #DeterminedtoDefeat
Fun And Cornbread
