Western Hills Student Wins Youth Art Month Flag Contest


Congrats to Western Hills student, Keyri Barrera Barona, for winning the Elementary Division of the Youth Art Month Flag contest! This annual competition is open to students across Arkansas. She will receive $100 worth of art supplies for winning, and her work will be displayed this summer at the Old State House Museum in Little Rock. Way to go, Keyri!

First Security Bank Branch Ribbon Cutting at Dodd Elementary


The second student-operated First Security Bank branch is now open following Thursday's ribbon-cutting ceremony at David O Dodd Elementary. First Security Bank donated $5 for each student to open an account. The goal is to teach students financial literacy, including money-management skills and the value of saving. First Financial Bank Makes Contribution to Support LRSD Students in Stock Market Game


Thanks, First Financial Bank, for your support of our students and for the generous donation of $2,500 so they may participate in the Stock Market Game.



Hope and Fury, Live Reenactment, The Story of a Dream by Booker Arts Magnet 



In partnership with the Arkansas Martin Luther King Commission (one of Booker’s newest Partners in Education!), students from Booker’s 4th and 5th grades used Drama, Dance, and Music to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  On his 90th birthday, this performance highlighted key moments from and Dr. Kings’ inspiring leadership during the Civil Rights movement. 



LRSD Teams Win Regional Divisions in Stock Market Game


Student teams from LRSD were the regional winners of the Fall 2018 session of the Stock Market Game program, an investment simulation competition hosted by Economics Arkansas
LRSD Schools and Advisors:
Don Roberts Elementary School, Joshua Penticoff – advisor, 1st and 2nd place, elementary school division
Pinnacle View Middle School, Graham Goodloe – advisor, 1st place, junior high division; and 1st place, overall advisor
The student winners and their teacher advisors will win cash prizes and copies of “The Bull” trophy, at an awards luncheon for the winners of the Fall 2018, Spring 2019 and Year-Round 2018-19 sessions on May 13, 2019, in Little Rock. Doug McMillon, president and CEO of Walmart Inc., will deliver the keynote address.

One District One Book Fall Campaign Kickoff at 
the Museum of Discovery




LRSD students have enjoyed the culminating events, hosted at the Museum of Discovery, for the One District One Book fall reading campaign. A special thanks to all of our partners for making this an especially STEMulating event:
