 Entire LR Parkview Football Team Receives Superintendent Citations

In recognition of their big win in the 5A State Football Championships, each Little Rock Parkview Football player received a superintendent citation during our last program of the year. Congratulations again Pats; you all certainly deserve it! The City of Little Rock will also recognize the team at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17th, at the City Board Meeting.




Gibbs Operation Warm(s) Bodies and Hearts


Thanks to Operation Warm, each student at Gibbs Magnet Elementary left before the winter break with a brand new coat to help keep them warm. Special thank you to the Little Rock Fire Fighter Global Union 34 and Entergy Arkansas for your generous donation and making this possible.

Operation Warm Also Benefited Rockefeller & Romine Early Childhood Centers


Entergy Arkansas and Little Rock Fire Department (Matthew Stallings Political Director APFF IAFF Local 34) presented coats to the students at Rockefeller ECC and blankets for the infants and toddlers.

Congratulations to Anu Iyer, LRCH, named a 2023 @Regeneron STS Scholar. #RegeneronSTS is our country's oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. Williams Elementary Students Make a Difference During the Holiday Season


While many love to receive during the holiday season, Williams Elementary students showed us how important it is to give instead. This group of students collected almost 70 boxes of crackers for the food pantry at St. Mark.

Going Pink on Feb. 10th!
Tiger Fans are invited to join the basketball team in wearing pink at the February 10th game against the Cabot Panthers.  The LRCH family will also take donations at the game, which will be presented to UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Institute representatives to support cancer research.

Carver STEAM Announced Partnership With  Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts

Carver STEAM Magnet Elementary School and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) are proud to become “Partners in Education”. As a result of this relationship, AMFA has chosen to feature Carver students and staff on their gorgeous, updated home page. (See picture above.)

Opening April 22, 2023, the new Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts will be home to an impressive art collection, an expansive Art School, and exceptional performing arts experiences. AMFA is very connected to the LRSD community and will undoubtedly provide amazing and enriching opportunities to any learner with a passion for the arts.

 Ava Walker is a shining star from LRCH.  The talented teen won second place and a $750 cash prize in the Arkansas School Boards Association’s student speaker contest. Students were asked to define and discuss challenges in the educational system and what changes can be made to improve the system for the next generation of learners. Ava was happy to represent the LRSD and Central!

LRSWHS Performing Arts Department Hosts Holiday Performance





Last week, the Little Rock Southwest High School Performing Arts Department hosted a holiday performance. There were two daytime shows, one for elementary schools throughout the District, and the second for Little Rock Southwest Scholars. Parents and community members enjoyed evening performances.

Congratulations Patriots!



We're sure you've heard by now, but congratulations are in order for the Parkview Patriot football team - the 2022 5A State Champions! Last Saturday the Patriots took on Shiloh Christian, ultimately bringing the win, 31-21, in the title game. We couldn't be more prouder of the Patriots for all their hard work. Major shout out to coach Brad Bolding on winning his first championship as head coach, as well as the entire coaching staff at Parkview. The District will honor the team on Monday, December 19th at 5:30 p.m.  Stay tuned for details.

LRCH's Madrigals Brought the Holiday Spirit to LRSD Admin Building




This week the LRCH Madrigals and choir filled the LRSD board room with holiday cheer by treating staff a beautiful performance of a few notable holiday favorites. Led by their talented choir director Ms. Daphne Fudge, the group serenaded the audience with of Carol of the Bells, Betelehemu (Nigerian Christmas Carol), and Up on the Housetop. Wakefield Elementary Recognized by the Office for Education Policy at University of Arkansas


Please join us in congratulating Wakefield Elementary for being recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school that is Beating the Odds. Students demonstrated high growth on the ACT Aspire. Wakefield received the following "Beating the Odds" awards:

LRSD Celebrated for Its Energy-Saving Efforts


LRSD is honored to have received a personal visit from the National Association of Energy Services Companies' (NAESCO) Executive Director Dr. Timothy Unruh, who personally delivered his organization's highest award to LRSD and Performance Services (PS). The District and PS were recognized for ongoing energy-saving efforts implemented at campuses and buildings across the District.  

Wednesday's presentation was made at Stephens Elementary, which prior to the HVAC upgrades, had been one of the District's largest energy consumers. As a way of giving back to the community, PS presented a ceremonial check to LRSD for donation to a charitable endeavor of the District's choice.

MLK Students Enjoyed Storytime With Pastors Earlier This Week

Grateful for the ongoing support of the faith-based community. Local pastors read to MLK students this week. Also appreciate LRSD ViPS board member Denise Persons for coordinating this tremendous effort to promote literacy thru ViPS. Students always enjoy having a good book read to them.


LRSW Teacher-Student Duo Attended the Clinton Foundation's Women's Voice Summit


Freshman Seminar Teacher, Terentia Phillips and Brea Green, 10th grade student in the Academy of Leadership and Public Service had the opportunity to attend the Women's Voice Summit which featured remarks from Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, Dr. Chelsea Clinton, and other global leaders exploring women's equality. 

These women leaders from around the world discussed their work and the continuing fight for women's rights. Student Presidential Leadership Series students and educators were also invited to attend an evening tour of the "Women's Voices, Women's Votes, Women's Rights" exhibit December 1st before the summit began.
