Head of Navy Recruiting Awards Prestigious NROTC Scholarships Worth $720,000 to Parkview Cadets

A special day at Parkview Arts/Science Magnet as the Head of Navy Recruiting recognized outstanding scholars with scholarships - the largest award was the highly coveted NROTC scholarship valued at $200,000. Congratulations to the following students:

The NROTC scholarship not only provides financial assistance for tuition and other educational expenses but also offers invaluable leadership training and career opportunities within the United States Military.  We are proud of these amazing scholars and the instructors who lead them: Petty Officer First Class Kenneth Rice, Sr., and Master Chief Voniya McFadden.

Parkview Sophomore Snaps Second Place in Jostens Photo Contest

Sophomore Kristopher Johnson clinched second place in the Jostens Photo Contest of North America with his striking image, "Parkview Proud." Featuring junior Cheerleader David Hall waving a Parkview flag at a football game, the photo stood out among 6,000 entries. Jostens representative Mandi Wiley confirmed the achievement, spotlighting Johnson's talent and Parkview's spirited energy.

At Little Rock Central High School, students took charge at the Youth Business Expo. From innovative products to compelling business plans, they're showcasing their entrepreneurial spirit with passion and determination. It's more than just a showcase — it's a testament to the power of education in nurturing young minds for the future.

From Classrooms to Championships: Pinnacle View Middle School Students Earn Ticket to Nationals

Pinnacle View Middle School students are celebrating big wins at National History Day, earning them a spot at the University of Maryland for the Kenneth E. Behring National Contest. Emily Kolb and Harper Ware's documentary on "Beating the Heat: How the Air Conditioner Transformed the American South," Natalie Dennington's website on "Frida Kahlo: Marginalized Groups Amid Mexican Modernism," and Daniel Chen's paper on "The American: A Story of Hope and Resilience During the Depression Era" have secured their places. Now, these talented scholars are gearing up to represent their school on a national platform. Congratulations!

Little Rock Students Captivated by Cosmic Spectacle: Total Eclipse Viewing Success!

Students, out of school and joined by their families, gathered eagerly to witness the solar eclipse. With protective glasses in place, they watched as the moon passed in front of the sun, creating a mesmerizing sight in the sky. They experienced the wonder of the celestial event, forming memories that would last a lifetime.

Don R. Roberts Fourth-Graders Check Out Parkview Musical on an Epic Field Trip

Fourth graders from Don R. Roberts Elementary recently hit the road for an unforgettable field trip to Parkview Arts & Science Magnet High School. They were treated to an action-packed performance of The Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson The Musical, sparking excitement and fueling their love for learning outside the classroom. With each beat of the music and burst of energy on stage, these students embraced the thrill of education in a whole new way.

Championship Spirit! LRCH Basketball Teams Recognized at City Board Meeting

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. and the City of Little Rock for their recognition of Little Rock Central's outstanding achievement at this week's board meeting. It's a moment of immense pride as both the girls' and boys' basketball teams clinched the state championship title this year. Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork have truly made the entire community proud. This recognition underscores the importance of celebrating local talent and the positive impact
it has on our city. Go, Tigers!

There are two design options for the boys and two design options for the girls. The teams do not get any proceeds from purchasing to keep prices lower. These are nice quality shirts to commemorate these special championship teams! Orders close on April 15th, and the deadline for purchasing from the
online store will not be extended.

The Creative Collective II at the Thea Foundation in North Little Rock presents an exciting showcase of over 70 pieces of artwork by faculty members and students from Parkview and Central High School. LRSD and Caissa Continue Second Phase of Recruitment/Retention Partnership

The Little Rock School District continues phase two of its strategic partnership with Caissa, a leading educational organization focused on student recruitment and retention. Community members may recall LRSD’s pilot project with Caissa last summer that included phone calls, texts, and surveys, seeking feedback to better meet the needs of families. Caissa implements a diverse range of tools to showcase the assets of the districts with which they work to get students back in classrooms and to keep them there. If you get emails or calls/texts from 501-503-3168, 501-512-1656, or 501-260-7244 -they are legitimate communication from LRSD.

Alley at MuralFest

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership is excited to bring the first-ever MuralFest to SoMa! Join them in downtown Little Rock's SoMa neighborhood to watch talented artists transform the space in the alley behind 1501 S. Main Street LIVE on May 4th. The event will be inside the footprint of 501Fest, which features live music, vendors, food trucks, and more!


Wind Down Wednesdays with 
Jazz in the Park

Enjoy free live music each Wednesday at 6 p.m. during the month of April as LRCVB's Jazz in the Park spring series returns to the Little Rock River Market. LRCVB hosts Jazz in the Park each April and September.  And, yes, unless it's storming, they do have inclement weather contingency plans.   


Little Rock Zoo to Display Dragon Kingdom!

Opening Saturday and running through September, guests of the Little Rock Zoo can enjoy a new exhibition called the Dragon Kingdom. Learn the similarities and connections between animals of the natural world and mythical creatures. Be A Part of the Cure Walk

UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is excited to celebrate its 4th annual Be A Part of the Cure Walk. ​​​​​​​Register today as an individual or create a team, share the information with your friends and family, and help us get the word out! Enjoy the Kids Discovery Zone, local entertainment, patient stories, the chance to win some great prizes (must be present to win), and walk for the cure along a 1k or 5k course. Complimentary food will be available. Experience a morning of fun and camaraderie on May 4th, 2024, at War Memorial Stadium. Gates open at 6:30am, with a special Survivor & Family “Seed of Hope, Gather & Celebrate” with light fare at 7:15 am and vendor booths. Get involved here!
