LRCH Basketball Coach Recognized in Arkansas Business 20 in their Twenties
Little Rock Central's assistant boys basketball coach Caleb Surly is so much more than a basketball coach. In addition to teaching Algebra I, he also works as a social media producer for ESPN! He has had an exemplary career in which his coverage of NBA draft day 2017 with Arkansan Malik Monk drew 857,000 views on Instagram. During his time at Central, the had a "Cinderella run" to the state crown in 2020, and he also started the Chase Your Dream Scholarship. This program gives out multiple $500 and $1000 scholarships each year to students at Rogers High School. Check out the full profile here.

Students from Washington Elementary helped to support Saint John Missionary Baptist Church in the distribution of food to members of the community. Over 100 food bags were provided.
"Male Empowerment" - the Focus of a
Summit Hosted by LRSW's New Principal
Principal Xavier Hodo’s Male Impact Summit ‘Let’s Talk” was held last Friday at Little Rock Southwest High School with the goal of enlightening, empowering, and impacting LRSW males in grades 9-12. The 2022 theme is “HIStory: The Untold Narrative of Boys to Men.”
The summit brought together successful male professionals from diverse backgrounds, careers, platforms and interests with scholars who had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with each panelist. Participating panelists included Sam’s Club Executive Carlos Buie, Arkansas Department of Correction Superintendent Deangelo Earl, Arkansas Urology's William Diggins, and Behavior Interventionist Dayton Artis. Little Rock native, activist, and motivational speaker Tim Campbell closed out the summit with his powerful testimony. Stories of tragedy and triumph with overall themes of personal accountability, and perseverance, along with the importance of goal setting were included in the message.

LRSD Partnering for Excellence Home-School-Community Connections Conference
The Parent & Family Engagement Office and the LRSD Cluster Teams are excited to present to you the Fall 2022 Partnering for Excellence Home, School, and Community Connections IN-PERSON Conference. Saturday, September 24, 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The location for the conference is 401 John Barrow (former Henderson Middle School).
LRSD Superintendent Dr. Jermall Wright will be in attendance to share a message with participants. Other interesting topics and resources will be shared by LRSD Departments and special guests. Refreshments, health screenings, Covid vaccinations, child immunizations, and other community resources will be shared. Childcare is provided. Additionally, as a participant you will receive an opportunity to play Exhibitor Bingo where there will be 2nd & 3rd place prizes. The grand prize will be a new laptop!

LITFest 2022
Little Rock's newest festival, LITFest, will take place October 7 – 9, 2022, in downtown Little Rock. The three-day event will highlight the City of Little Rock through live music, cultural programming and panelists on various topics from technology to economic growth.
“Not only will this be a time for Little Rock residents to gather, this is also a citywide homecoming,” Mayor Scott said. “Keeping with that theme, there will be a special emphasis on spotlighting current and former Little Rock residents who are recognized as leaders in their fields to participate as performers and panelists.”
